Back when I booked hostels by fax, no reviews, just luck
In 2004 I sent a fax to a place in Rome for $12 a night and got a closet with a fan, now I won't book anything without 20 recent photos and a free cancellation date, anyone else miss the gamble or just me?

Honestly, is the gamble even worth bedbugs? I'll take my over-researched anxiety any day.
