Chose a bus over a flight to Prague from Berlin and saved 60 bucks

I was planning a trip from Berlin to Prague last month and had to decide between a 4 hour bus ride for $15 or a 1 hour flight for $75. I went with the bus because I figured I could use that extra cash for food and a museum ticket. The bus was comfortable enough with wifi and a bathroom, and I actually got to see the countryside go by. The only downside was it left at 6am so I was tired when I got there. But I spent the $60 I saved on a good dinner and a castle tour instead. Has anyone else picked the slower option and been surprised it worked out better?

Yeah "spent the 60 bucks I saved on a good dinner" that's exactly why I stopped always rushing to fly after I did the same thing.

That's exactly what my friend Sarah did last year. She took a bus from Rome to Florence instead of the train because it was almost half the price, and she ended up meeting a retired Italian couple who told her about a little restaurant their nephew ran. She said the bus was delayed an hour but the conversation made up for it, and she went to that restaurant and had the best pasta of her whole trip. She still talks about that meal and how she never would have found it if she'd just rushed around by train.

Wait a minute @sage_green, you are telling me that 60 bucks is the difference between sitting on a bus for 4 hours versus zipping through the air in an hour? I had no idea flights were that cheap for that route. That is wild. A 6am bus sounds rough though, I would have been nodding off on the castle tour for sure.
