Finally figured out why my hostel dinners tasted so bad
Took me about 5 years of backpacking to realize I was using too much water when cooking those instant noodle packets in hostel kitchens. I had this moment in a hostel in Krakow where this German guy just stared at me dumping a full kettle into a tiny cup and said 'you know that's soup, not pasta, right?' The difference in flavor was night and day after that. Anyone else have a hostel kitchen fail that took way too long to fix?

Wait, hold up. You were making soup instead of noodles for five years? That's actually wild. I can't believe nobody pulled you aside sooner, like not one person in all those hostels was like "hey buddy, what are you doing." The German guy probably thought he was witnessing a crime against instant noodles or something.
