Found a $3 street food spot in Bangkok that blew my mind
I was wandering around a market near Khao San Road last month and stumbled on this tiny stall selling pad thai for just 60 baht, about $3. The owner used a secret tamarind sauce that made it taste way better than the fancy restaurants. Has anyone else found cheap local food that beats the tourist spots?

Totally agree with @lee847, secret family recipes hit different!

Ugh that sounds amazing! My buddy Mike found this place in Chiang Mai that does khao soi for like $2 and he still won't shut up about it a year later. He said the broth was so rich he almost cried but the tourist restaurants wanted 10x the price for way less flavor.

I read that same tamarind trick is actually a 50-year-old family recipe passed down through generations of street vendors.
