Hostel owner called out my packing routine, now I save $40 per trip

A guy in Prague watched me spread out my stuff on the bunk and said I was carrying three days of backups for a weekend. I cut my bag from 12kg to 7kg by ditching duplicate chargers and extra shoes. Anyone else get a reality check from someone on the road about overpacking?

So the guy was right about the 3 days of backups for a weekend thing, but what exactly was in there that you actually used at all? Be honest, did you touch any of that extra stuff even once before you went home?
