PSA: Check your hotel hostels in Lisbon before you book, the fake 5 star reviews are everywhere now

Stayed at what looked like a great spot near Baixa last week and the place was a dump with broken AC and moldy showers, has anyone else gotten scammed by those overly positive reviews?

God these fake reviews are out of control. I had the exact same thing happen in Porto last month. The photos looked amazing but the place was a total disaster. Dirty sheets and the wifi barely worked. These scammy hotels need to be shut down. Check Google Maps and cross reference with TripAdvisor.

Always look for the most recent negative reviews on Google Maps, those are the real ones.

Fake reviews are just another symptom of how everything online is getting gamed these days, even stuff like plumbers and car repair shops I've dealt with.
