Shoutout to the free walking tour in Prague that saved my whole trip
Honestly, I was down to my last 20 euros for the day in Prague and feeling pretty stuck. I joined a 'free' walking tour in Old Town Square, figuring I'd just leave a small tip. The guide was amazing and showed us hidden courtyards and local bakeries I never would've found. I ended up spending that 20 euros on amazing food instead of a boring bus ticket. Has anyone else had a tour guide totally change their budget day in a city?

Wait you only had 20 euros left for the whole day? That's wild lol. Glad the tour worked out though, those guides are the best.

Free tours are never really free though, are they? You still have to tip, and the guides often push certain cafes or shops for their own cut. I found one in Berlin that spent more time outside a specific souvenir stand than at the actual monument. @ruby_henderson36 has a point about good free things, but a lot of these tours are just ads you walk through. I'd rather read up and explore on my own time.
