Someone said my 'pack everything' rule was making my trips worse

They argued I was paying for extra baggage and stress to avoid a $5 laundry stop, so I tried a 7kg carry-on only for a week in Lisbon. Has anyone else cut back and been surprised?

Lisbon laundry is way more than five bucks now.

My last laundry bill felt like a ransom note.

Yeah, the "paying for extra baggage and stress" line hit me. I used to be that person with a giant suitcase for a long weekend. Tried a carry-on for a week in Barcelona and it was a game changer. No waiting at the carousel, no fighting for space in a tiny hotel room, just grabbed my bag and went. @jade517 is right about costs, but the real win is the freedom. You just feel lighter, literally and mentally.

Oh please... it's just a suitcase. People act like checking a bag is some life-altering burden. I've done both ways and honestly? Sometimes it's nice to have your stuff with you instead of trying to live out of a tiny bag for a week.
