Someone told me I was overpaying for hostel dorms and now I check 3 booking sites before every trip

Last month I booked a dorm bed in Barcelona for $40 a night thinking that was the standard rate. A girl from Denmark in my room said she paid $22 for the exact same bed on a different site. Felt like a fool. Now I cross check Hostelworld, Booking, and the hostel's own website before I click pay. Has anyone else found a site that consistently has the lowest prices on hostels?
