Spent 6 hours trying to book a $29 flight on a budget airline's app

I was trying to snag that Frontier deal to Denver for $29 last week. But their app kept crashing every time I went to pay, and the price bumped up to $47 after three tries. I finally gave up and used my laptop, which worked fine in like 10 minutes. The whole thing took me from 8pm to almost 2am, just to save eighteen bucks. Anyone else have a budget airline's mobile site totally tank on them?

Did you try clearing your app cache before you started? I had basically the same mess with Spirit a few months back, and what finally worked for me was just using their mobile website in Safari instead of the app itself. The app kept glitching on the payment screen for me too, but the website went through without a hitch. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a shot next time if you don't want to drag out your laptop.

Actually Claire (@the_claire), I think there's a small mix-up here - Spirit doesn't have a mobile website that processes payments, at least not one that works reliably. Their site just redirects you to download the app, which kinda defeats the purpose of trying the workaround you suggested. I went through this exact headache last month, and when I tried the mobile site in Safari, it just kept bouncing me back to the app store over and over. The only thing that finally got the payment through for me was using Chrome on my laptop, believe it or not. But you're totally right about the app cache thing being a good first step, even if it didn't fix the issue completely for everyone.

Yeah their mobile site is garbage too, it just loops you back to the app.
