That $15 inflatable pillow was the worst purchase I made for a 3 week trip through Thailand

Ngl I had a buddy who tried one of those on a bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and it was a total disaster. He blew it up all proud and then three hours in it started deflating real slow so he kept having to lean over and blow it back up every twenty minutes. By the time we got to the bus station his neck was killing him and the pillow was just a flat piece of rubber. Honestly he said the worst part was people staring at him while he kept going at it like he was trying to win a contest. Tbh a rolled up hoodie would have done the same job without the humiliation.

What's funny is people always blame the pillow but I bet the real issue was sleeping in a hammock or on a bus seat where no neck support works. I tried one of those inflatable things on a train in Vietnam and it popped before we even left the station. The thing about traveling cheap in Southeast Asia is you need to accept that discomfort is part of the deal, a foam pillow from a 7-Eleven would have worked better and cost less. Plus you could have used it as a buffer between your backpack and your back for the trekking days. Next time just grab a sarong and stuff it with clothes, that's what I did after my pillow failed and it worked way better.
