That time my carry-on broke in Madrid and I had to fix it with a belt
Last month I landed in Madrid for a week trip and grabbed my bag from the overhead bin. The zipper just gave up and split open right there in the aisle. Clothes started spilling out while people were waiting to get off the plane. I ended up wrapping a luggage strap from my backpack around it and used my belt to hold the whole thing together. Walked around Madrid for 7 days looking like a mess but it worked. Has anyone else had a bag fail on them mid-trip and come up with a weird fix?

Belt fix is peak travel improvisation honestly.

Spent three days in Rome last year with a broken suitcase zipper held together by three zip ties and a hair elastic. The zip ties snapped one by one and I was buying replacements at a random hardware store near the Colosseum. By day four I just gave up and carried everything in a plastic bag from the supermarket. The belt solution is way classier than my trash bag approach.
