Took me 8 trips to realize I was packing way too heavy
I used to cram a full sized suitcase for a 3 day weekend trip. Then I took a greyhound from Austin to Dallas and had to lug that thing up three flights of stairs at the station. My shoulder was shot for a week. Now I pack a 30L backpack and wash my socks in the sink. Anyone else have that moment where you finally learned the hard way?

Eight trips is still way better than the guy I saw at the airport last month trying to roll a giant duffel bag with a broken wheel. Dude was basically dragging a dead body across the tile floor while his kid was crying over a spilled slushie. Meanwhile I'm standing there with my little backpack feeling like a smug genius. My own wake up call was trying to cram a hoodie into an overhead bin and having it pop back out like a jack in the box. Now I just wear all my clothes on the plane and look like a hobo.

Ngl, @linda114, I gotta disagree-wearing all your layers on the plane is a pro move, not a hobo look.

Notice how this same logic plays out everywhere now. People wear their hiking boots on the plane to save suitcase space. They clip carabiners to their backpacks like they're about to summit Everest just to walk through security. It's like we've all collectively decided that looking slightly ridiculous is worth it to avoid checking a bag. Kind of funny how the whole airport experience turned into this unspoken competition of who can game the system the hardest.
