Blew my whole grocery budget at the State Fair last weekend

I was at the Minnesota State Fair and dropped $60 on just food and rides for two people. That was supposed to be my weekly food money. Now I'm eating rice and beans until payday. Has anyone else had a single event wreck their budget for the month?

Man I used to roll my eyes at people who said the fair was a budget killer. Thought they were being dramatic. Then I went to the Iowa State Fair last summer and dropped like $45 on just a turkey leg, some cheese curds, and a lemonade. My wife wanted to go on the tilt-a-whirl and that was another $12. Totally blew my eating out money for two weeks. Rice and beans actually sounds pretty good right now, I've been living on frozen pizzas since then.

Drop the turkey leg next time and grab a corn dog from the stand by the midway @william_garcia. It's like half the price and hits the same spot. I learned that lesson the hard way after spending $8 on a funnel cake that was mostly air. Rice and beans will treat you better than frozen pizzas, promise.

That turkey leg thing gets me every time, I swear. I went to a county fair back in 2019 and spent $30 on a pulled pork sandwich that was maybe four bites. I thought I was being smart by skipping the big meals but then I turned around and dropped $20 on a basket of fries and a drink at some random stand. My buddy brought his own sandwiches in a cooler and I was just standing there jealous. Rice and beans is honestly a power move though, I did that for a week after a bad trip to the grocery store. Frozen pizzas just make me feel worse somehow, like I'm eating cardboard with cheese on top.
