Claimed $60 in work expenses took 4 months to get back
I had to drive my personal car for a client meeting back in March. Put in the mileage claim for $60 through our system. My boss signed off same day. Then accounting said I used the wrong form code. Resubmitted. They lost it. Resubmitted again. Then they said the check was mailed to the wrong address. I finally got the money yesterday. Anybody else have a simple reimbursement turn into this kind of hassle?

Is it just me or does this kind of thing make you want to stop claiming expenses altogether? I used to think companies were pretty quick with reimbursements, you know, a few weeks at most. But after reading your story, I totally get why people just eat the cost sometimes. It's crazy how one $60 claim can turn into a four month nightmare with all those little screw ups. Honestly, it changed my mind about how much trust I put in the system. Now I'd rather keep my own receipts and just skip the hassle unless it's a huge amount.

You know, I used to be one of those people who said "just claim it, that's what it's there for." But after going through something similar myself, I've come around to the other side of this completely. It's just not worth the headache for small amounts anymore. I remember spending an entire afternoon once chasing down a $45 receipt that had been misplaced in their system. By the time I got the money back, I had basically earned about three dollars an hour for my trouble. So yes, I totally agree with you on this one.
