Hit my 6 month emergency fund goal and it felt unreal

I set a number back in January, $4,800, based on what I actually spend per month here in Columbus. Thought it would take me all year at least because my rent eats so much. But I picked up some weekend shifts at the arena and sold a bunch of old books and gear on Facebook. Every Friday I moved $40 to a separate savings account before I even looked at my balance. Yesterday I checked and hit $4,812. I literally sat there staring at the screen for a minute. It's not life changing money but knowing I could cover 6 months of bills if I lost my job tomorrow is a weight I didn't realize I was carrying. Has anyone else hit a savings milestone that felt way more emotional than you expected?

Gotta say, I used to roll my eyes at the whole emergency fund thing. Figured if I had a few hundred bucks stashed, that was good enough, you know? But last year my truck broke down twice in one month and my dog needed surgery right after, and man, that wiped me out completely. Now I see your post and it's clicking for me. That $4,800 isn't just money sitting there, it's like, six months of not having that pit in my stomach every time my check engine light flickers. It's weird how a number on a screen can make you feel taller or something. Props to you for making it happen.
