I was at the hardware store in Tacoma and saw a guy buy a $5 tool to fix his sink instead of calling a plumber. Smart move or a huge risk?

Ugh, people always underestimate water damage.

Depends if he knows what he's doing. A five dollar fix is great until you flood your kitchen. Then you're paying the plumber for an emergency call.
