I was dead wrong about meal planning saving money, took me 3 months to even break even

I always thought meal prep was just for influencers and organized people, but after my grocery bill hit $680 in January I gave it a real shot and now I'm spending like $80 less a week by actually using what I buy, has anyone else found a specific day or method that finally clicked for them?

Man I feel this in my bones. My first meal prep Sunday I spent 5 hours cooking and ended up with like 14 portions of mushy broccoli that tasted like regret. Turns out I was just buying random stuff on sale without a plan and hoping for the best, which is basically setting money on fire with extra steps. The thing that finally clicked for me was picking just two dinner recipes a week and sticking to them like my life depends on it, now I actually eat my leftovers instead of letting them turn into science experiments in the back of the fridge. Still can't get my breakfast game right though, I've eaten dry Cheerios for the last 8 days because I keep forgetting to buy milk.

Honestly my buddy tried meal prep and his first week he bought a whole chicken without realizing he didn't own a knife sharp enough to cut it up, ended up just ordering pizza. Took him like a month to recover from that disaster.
