My $14 rice cooker became a 3 week meal prep empire
Last month I got sick of spending $9 on lunch every workday in Austin, so I grabbed a tiny 3 cup rice cooker from a thrift shop for $14. I figured I'd just make plain rice, but then I started tossing in frozen veggies, canned beans, and whatever leftover protein I had, and suddenly I was eating for under $2 a meal. The thing runs so cheap that my electric bill barely moved, and I've now got three separate containers of lunches in my office fridge for the week. My coworker asked if I was running a catering side hustle out of my cubicle, which honestly made me laugh. Anyone else find a single tiny appliance that just destroyed their old eating out habit?
