Need ideas for budget curtain rods that don't look cheap
I'm redoing my bedroom and trying to keep costs low. The curtain rods I saw at the store seem weak and might not last. What are some good choices that are strong but still affordable?

Watched a rod snap once, curtains pancaked my dog.

No way! Honestly, I had a cheap tension rod in my bathroom totally fail on me. The whole thing slipped and crashed down, my shower curtain dumped everywhere. Tbh, it scared my cat half to death when it happened. Now I'm paranoid about any rod that feels too light or flimsy. Ngl, your dog story makes me double check all my curtain hardware.

My neighbor's kid yanked on their shower curtain to pull himself up and the whole rod came down like a javelin. Put a hole straight through the toilet lid. They had to replace the seat and everything. Makes you realize how much force those things can take when you least expect it.

Ugh, it's the worst when cheap stuff breaks fast (like @brooke_wells20's dog found out). I see it everywhere now, from towel bars pulling out of drywall to those thin shelf brackets bending. For curtains, skip the hollow tubes. I found solid wooden dowels at a hardware store, cut to size, and used simple iron brackets. It looks way more solid and costs about the same as the wobbly store ones.
