Pro tip: Naming my emergency fund 'Dragon Hoard' made saving fun.

Now I actually look forward to adding to it.

My buddy Greg calls his vacation fund 'Island Time' and it totally changed his mindset. He used to dread setting money aside, but now he gets a kick out of watching it grow. I mean, maybe it's just me, but a little creativity goes a long way with boring adult stuff.

My cousin labeled her car fund "Freedom Mobile" and it actually worked.

That "Freedom Mobile" name is pretty clever, makes saving for a car feel less like a chore. @dakotaadams had a point about the "Dragon Hoard" turning spending into an adventure, right? I mean, I tried calling my emergency fund "Safety Net" but it didn't really click for me. Maybe it needs to be more fun, like an "Oops Fund" for minor mess-ups. What do you think makes a name work long-term, like does it help to visualize what you're saving for?

Seriously, giving your emergency fund a cool name might also ease the guilt of dipping into it. When it's a 'Dragon Hoard,' spending feels like part of the adventure rather than a failure. That reframe can make financial setbacks less stressful.
