Showerthought: I used to think gym memberships were a waste until I did the math on my $89/month mistake
I always figured paying for a gym was throwing money away, so I bought a cheap $200 treadmill off Marketplace instead. The thing broke in 4 months and I never fixed it, which worked out to about $50 a month for something that just collected dust in my garage. Then my neighbor in Tulsa asked me to split a $60 monthly membership with her, and I said yes just to be nice. Turns out having someone expect me there at 6am got me going 4 days a week, and I've kept it up for 7 months now. The $30 I pay is cheaper than what that dead treadmill cost me, and I feel better too. Has anyone else found that paying for something is what actually makes you use it?
