The $60 gym membership I never used for 9 months

Signed up last January at a gym near downtown Austin. Paid $60 a month with a 12 month contract. Went twice in February, then life got busy. Forgot about the auto charges on my card. Just caught it last week when I was checking statements. That is $540 gone for nothing. They made it hard to cancel too, had to get a manager to call them. Now I check every single subscription charge once a month. Anyone else get trapped by a gym contract they forgot to cancel?

Isn't it funny how we treat subscriptions like they're nothing until they add up like that? It's like the whole world is set up to take your money quietly, you know, streaming services, app trials, meal kits, even those little donation things you forgot you signed up for. I swear I found a $9/month cloud storage charge last month that I don't even remember opening, and I use Google Drive anyway. It's a trap we all fall into because nobody reads the fine print or checks their bank app every week. Once you catch one, you start digging and it's almost scary what else is lurking in there.
