The $60 meal kit box I swore I'd hate actually cut my grocery bill
I signed up for a Hello Fresh promo last March just to get the discount on a new pan, fully expecting to cancel right after. But three weeks in I noticed my usual weekly grocery run dropped from about $140 to $95, because I stopped impulse buying stuff that would rot. The portion sizes were weirdly honest, like no more guessing how much chicken to cook. I still hate the packaging waste, don't get me wrong, but the math on food waste alone was embarrassing. I stuck with it for 5 months until I felt confident enough to meal plan on my own. Now I only buy the boxes when they run a steep sale, and I copy their recipe cards for the rest. Has anyone else found that paying more per serving actually saved them money in the long run?

Cheapest way is still to look at the loss leaders and flyers before you shop. Those boxes work if you've got zero discipline, but they're a crutch, not a fix.
