The month I tracked every single snack purchase, worst idea ever
I logged $43.75 in vending machine and gas station snacks over 30 days. It didn't stop me from buying them, just made me feel bad about it. Has anyone found a snack budget method that actually changes behavior, or is self-tracking just guilt with extra steps?

Wait, did you also track the time spent actually going to buy them? Because that's where the real cost hides, the 10 minutes standing in line plus the walk to the machine adds up fast. My guess is you didn't set a hard limit either, like cash only for snacks, which forces a real choice when the bill runs out. So the question is, were you tracking just to observe, or did you have some rule attached that would actually stop you? That's the difference between guilt and change, seems like you skipped the second part.
