Took a wrong turn on my grocery run and ended up saving $60
Was at the Safeway on 3rd street last Tuesday and grabbed a cart without checking the weekly specials board first. Ended up impulse buying organic snacks and fancy cheese that blew my budget by almost $30. Anyone else have a system for sticking to their list when the store rearranges everything?

Used to happen to me all the time so now I just take a picture of the weekly ad on my phone before I walk in... keeps me focused on the deals.

That's a smart trick with the photo. I think @joel_clark37 is right that it's on us if we grab stuff we didn't plan for, but stores are definitely designed to make that happen. It's wild how the whole layout is like a maze to slow you down and push the expensive stuff. The bigger pattern I notice is how we've all just accepted that this is how shopping works. We've built little hacks to fight back, but the stores are still winning most of the time.

Not really a system. I just don't buy stuff I didn't come for. If I grab a bag of chips I didn't plan on, that's on me, not the store layout.
