Vent: My "quick" freezer organization took me 5 hours instead of 30 minutes
I thought I could just rearrange the Ice Age in my chest freezer last Saturday. Ended up pulling out 47 pounds of mystery meat from 2019 and had to defrost the whole thing because ice was everywhere. Anyone else discover forgotten freezer science experiments when trying to save $20 on groceries?

Peel back that first layer of ice and found a whole ecosystem in there, huh? What was the worst package you uncovered that sealed your fate to just commit to the full defrost? I've pulled out a bag of what I swear used to be pork chops that had more ice crystals than actual meat left, and that's when I knew it was going to be an all day thing.

Get a big garbage bag and some paper towels ready before you even open the door, makes the whole thing way less miserable when you can just toss stuff straight out instead of making multiple trips.

...and then I found a Tupperware container with what I thought was soup from the back corner, but when I popped the lid the smell hit me so hard I actually gagged. Turns out it was some kind of science experiment involving green fuzzy stuff that had completely eaten through the plastic lid. My husband still brings up the "frozen petri dish incident" every time I mention organizing anything now.
