Visited the recycling center near Portland and got a real wake-up call about my spending

I dropped off some cardboard and old newspapers at the Metro transfer station off Highway 217 last Saturday. While I was there, I saw a guy tossing out a whole set of barely used IKEA furniture in the donation bin. He said he bought it all three months ago because the store display looked nice, but never actually assembled it. Made me think about how many things I buy on impulse that I don't really use. Has anything like that made you stop and rethink your own spending habits?

Think the bread maker example shows waiting a week still lets you buy stuff you don't need though.

@piperbailey nailed it honestly. IKEA really is just overpriced flat pack dopamine hits for people who think they're gonna become minimalist interior designers overnight. Seeing that guy toss his three month old furniture in the donation bin felt like a personal attack on my wallet lol. Reminded me of that time I bought a bread maker on a whim and used it exactly once before it became a dust collector. Now I try to wait at least a week before buying anything that isn't groceries or gas.

I usually wait about a month before I buy anything big like that just to make sure.
