Hot take: a guy in a parking lot called my bullet journal "a scrapbook for adults" and I changed the whole thing
Two years ago I was at a coffee shop on Grand Ave and this guy saw my journal open while I waited for my drink. He looked at my washi tape, my little mood tracker, the doodles in the margin, and just said "that's a scrapbook for adults, not a planner." I got defensive for about a day, then I sat down and counted how much time I spent decorating versus actually using the thing. It was something like 20 minutes of drawing for 2 minutes of checking off tasks. So I stripped it down. Plain black pen, one page per day, no tape, no color coding, no fancy spreads. The weird part is I've kept it going way longer now because I stopped dreading the setup. My old journals have maybe 4 months in them each before I quit. This boring one is on month 14. Does anyone else feel like the artsy side of bujo is what kills it for them, or is that just me?
