Hot take: those fancy $60 journal pens are a total scam
I fell for the hype last year and bought a set of those high end fineliners everyone raves about on here. Spent like $68 on a 10 pack thinking they would make my layouts look amazing. First week they were fine but after like 3 weeks the tips started fraying real bad on me. One of them even dried out completely even though I kept the cap on. Meanwhile my cheap 4 dollar pilot pens from the grocery store are still going strong after 6 months. I feel like such a fool for wasting that money on something that barely lasted. Has anyone else had the same problem with those expensive pens or did I just get a bad batch?

Yeah I used to be the guy saying you gotta spend money for quality. But after my $70 set of fineliners crapped out in a month I switched back to cheap gel pens and honestly my journal looks the same. Can't argue with results like that.

@max_torres44 I feel you on that. I went through the same thing with those expensive markers. What worked for me was switching to the Paper Mate Flair pens. They're like $8 for a pack and last way longer. I've had my current set for 4 months with no fraying or drying out. The ink is smooth and my layouts look just as good as when I was using the expensive ones.

Same thing happened to me with a brand everyone swears by. Tips went fuzzy after like two weeks. Now I just grab whatever's on sale at the drugstore and it works fine.
