I finally get why some people use only one pen for everything.

I used to pack my bullet journal with colored pens. Each category had its own color. It looked pretty but took forever to set up. Then I saw a post about minimal bullet journals. I decided to test using one pen for everything. For a week, I only used a basic black gel pen. My spreads were plain but super functional. I could quickly jot down tasks without fuss. It made me realize that sometimes, less really is more.

At the office, we used to have a five-step process for booking meeting rooms. It caused so many delays until someone suggested just writing your name on the door calendar. Simple solutions often get buried under unnecessary systems.

Man, this feels like a bigger trend of overcomplicating simple things. I see it everywhere, from people using ten apps to manage basic tasks to crazy complex recipes. Your pen story just proves the simple way is often right in front of us.

Watched my friend spend weeks trying to organize her photos with some complex cloud service and multiple folders. She got so stressed about tags and backup rules that she never actually looked at her pictures. Then her kid just printed a few favorites and tacked them on the bulletin board with thumbtacks. Seeing those happy moments right there in the kitchen changed everything for her. It's exactly the kind of thing @martin.nora means about overcomplicating what's simple. She finally admitted the easy way was staring her in the face the whole time.
