I started drawing a tiny weather icon each morning and it fixed my blank page problem

For months, I'd open my journal and just stare at the empty daily log. Last Tuesday, I decided to draw one simple symbol for the weather in the top corner, like a sun or a cloud. That small action gave me a starting point and now I fill the whole page without thinking. It's been a week and I haven't missed a day. What's a simple trick you use to get your entries going?

My journal trick is writing "Dear Diary" then crossing it out like a teenager.

Relate so hard, @joel_jones. I'd just scribble over the whole first page.

@joel_jones that reminds me of my old school notebooks. I used to write the date at the top in my neatest handwriting, then immediately doodle in the margins. The whole first page was always a complete mess, like I was trying to ruin it on purpose. It felt like a weird way to break the ice with myself before actually writing anything down. The pressure of a clean page is just too much sometimes.
