My sister told me to skip the fancy spreads and just use a pencil

She said to just write down my three main tasks for the day in my bullet journal and nothing else. I tried it for a week in March and got more done than the whole month before when I was drawing weekly calendars. Has anyone else found that keeping it simple works better for them?

Wait, is this really a life changing thing or are we just overthinking how we write to-do lists? I mean, it's cool that it worked for you, but it's just a pencil and some paper. Maybe we all just need to do the work instead of making the list look perfect.

Heard of decision fatigue from too many lists?

Honestly, this whole thread just shows how we overcomplicate stuff that should be simple. Ngl, I've noticed this pattern everywhere, not just with to-do lists. People buy fancy notebooks, special pens, apps with color codes, and then spend hours setting them up instead of actually doing the tasks. Tbh, that's like buying a gym membership and spending all your time picking out the perfect workout outfit instead of working out. The real life changing thing is just realizing that the tool doesn't matter nearly as much as just starting. A pencil and scrap paper can change your week if you actually use it instead of decorating it.

Hold on, you got more done in one week than the whole month before? That's actually crazy. I've been making these detailed trackers for months and maybe that's the problem. @luna_wright might be onto something about just doing the work, but if a pencil list is what gets you to actually do it, then that's the real trick. I'm throwing out my markers tonight.
