Spent two full evenings trying to fix a single monthly spread
I finally bought a nice Leuchtturm1917 after using cheap notebooks for years, and then I spent about 6 hours obsessing over how to set up my habit tracker for February. I kept erasing and redrawing the same 8 squares because the lines weren't perfectly even. Has anyone else gone way overboard on something simple like that?

Oh man, I know this feeling too well! My buddy Matt spent like three hours trimming a single page in his planner with an X-Acto knife because he wanted the habit tracker to line up perfectly with the opposite page, and then he accidentally cut a tiny slit in the next month's spread and had to tape it. He still brings it up whenever I ask about his weekend.

Honestly I think you're WAY overthinking this. It's a NOTEBOOK. The whole point is to actually write things down and USE it, not make it some kind of art project. Those 6 hours you spent erasing and redrawing squares could've been spent actually tracking something useful. And then what happens when you make a mistake in February? You gonna throw the whole notebook away? Perfectionism just kills the whole point of having a planner, which is to HELP you, not stress you out. Let it be a little messy, it's fine.

haha this reminds me of my friend Rachel who spent literally an hour coloring in a single habit tracker square with like five different shades of purple because she wanted it to look "ombré." then she messed up the shading on day two and just stopped tracking altogether. the notebook is still sitting on her shelf looking pretty with four perfect days and a blank abyss after that.
