The debate: fancy weekly spreads vs. a simple list that takes 2 minutes
I spent months doing these elaborate vertical weekly layouts with color coding and washi tape, then tried just a bare-bones running to-do list in my daily log. Now I'm torn between the two because the pretty layouts actually motivated me to open the journal, but the simple list got more actual tasks done. Which side do you land on when you're honest with yourself?

Pretty spreads are just procrastination with extra steps.

You ever actually finish one of those and then just stare at it for 20 minutes? I had a phase where I'd spend two hours on a weekly spread then do zero actual tasks. Switched to a plain notebook. Just dates and bullet points. No stickers, no calligraphy. Got way more done.

Keep in mind that "fancy" doesn't have to mean wasteful. I still do a simple weekly overview with a few colored headers just to keep track of appointments, takes maybe 10 minutes. The all-out spreads with illustrations are a different animal, though.
