The moment I realized I was doing my future log all wrong

I've been bullet journaling for about 8 months now, and I kept getting frustrated with my future log. Every month I'd flip back and see events I missed or tasks I forgot to migrate. Then last week I was at a coffee shop in Austin and saw someone else's journal open to their future log. They had it broken into quarters instead of months, and they used sticky notes for things that were far out. I literally smacked my forehead because I had been cramming everything into tiny monthly boxes. Now I'm redoing mine with quarterly sections and it already feels way less cluttered. Has anyone else had that "aha" moment where you realized you were overcomplicating something simple?

Sticky notes are a total game changer for future logs, I started using them in different colors for different categories like work vs personal and it saved my brain. Do you color code them or just throw them in there?

Sticky notes feel like cheating but they work, don't they.

Oh totally! It's like sticky notes cut through all the digital clutter and just work. I've noticed this bigger pattern where the simplest, most low-tech things often get the job done better than the fancy apps. Like how paper to-do lists still beat any planner app for me, and old school notebooks are easier to remember things from than typing notes on a phone. Sometimes the hack that feels like cheating is just our brains liking things plain and simple!
