Went to a coffee shop in Portland and saw someone bullet journaling their coffee tasting notes

I was at Heart Coffee on Morrison last Saturday and this guy had a whole spread for each pour-over he tried, tracking aroma, temp, and mouthfeel. It was so detailed I almost asked him to take over my messy weekly log. Anyone else ever run into a stranger's bullet journal out in the wild and get weirdly inspired?

Is that really something you need to track like it's a science experiment? I mean, I get liking coffee, but writing down the mouthfeel and temp for every pour-over sounds a bit extra to me. People act like their bullet journal is going to solve world hunger or something. It's just a notebook, not a lifestyle manifesto. What exactly did you think you were missing out on?

Oh, I've been there. For me it was stuff like "mood after journaling" and "water intake" down to the ounce. Honestly, it helped me stop overthinking, because once it was written down I didn't have to keep it in my head.

tracked my coffee for a while too - pour over temp, bloom time, all that. @uma_williams I get why it sounds extra but for me it was like a meditation. it forced me to slow down and actually pay attention to what I was doing instead of chugging it while rushing around. after a few weeks I stopped because I got the hang of it and didn't need the notebook anymore. helped me figure out what I actually liked about the process, not just the caffeine hit.
