For two years I made these huge monthly overview pages with color coded habit grids, mood charts, and expense dots. Looked amazing in photos but I stopped checking it by the 5th. What changed me was reading about how your brain ignores static lists, so now I do a tiny weekly line with just 3 tasks and one highlight. I still keep a rapid log but treat the index like a search bar instead of a plan. Does anyone else feel like fancy spreads just become art projects that stress you out more?
I get the pushback but I still build the big monthly pages and they work fine for me. My trick is I don't track habits in them at all. The monthly spread is just a calendar where I write down stuff that already happened, like when I mailed a package or paid a bill. Looking back at those pages actually tells me something, like I can see I always forget the water bill around the 20th. The habit grids and mood charts are what killed it for me, not the calendar part. The static list thing is real though, but for me the fix was cutting the trackers, not the whole page.
