Showerthought: I found out small businesses pay up to 3x more per Mbps than homes do
I was killing time on my phone during break and ended up on the FCC site comparing posted speeds and prices, and one chart showed a small shop paying around $300 for 100 Mbps while the apartment above it gets 300 Mbps for $70. That is the same wire, maybe the same pole, just a different label on the bill. I called our provider about it and the rep basically said business plans come with 'priority support,' which in my experience means a guy shows up sometime between 8 and 5. How is a two person shop supposed to eat that markup when the home plan is faster? Has anyone here actually talked their way onto a cheaper plan, or is that just not a thing that happens?
