Debated between Blum soft-close and standard hinges for a kitchen redo

I had to choose between Blum soft-close hinges and regular ones for a 20-door kitchen job last month. I went with the standard hinges to save money and time, but now three customers have complained about the slamming noise. Has anyone else had regrets going with the cheaper option on a big install?

That "lesson of his career" story just proves some guys can't close a cabinet without making it a tragedy.

My buddy Mark did the same thing on a 15-door install last spring. He thought the soft close hinges were overkill and that nobody would care about the noise. First week after the job, one client called him at 10pm saying the cabinets woke up their baby. He ended up having to go back and swap out all the hinges for free just to keep his reputation. Took him three extra days and cost him almost as much as if he'd just bought the soft closes from the start. He told me that shortcut turned into the most expensive lesson of his career. How bad was the noise difference for you on those 20 doors?

Did your buddy Mark notice a big difference in how smooth the doors felt after swapping them? My buddy Steve had the same thing happen on a 12 door kitchen, and he said the soft closes were way quieter even just closing them by hand.
