Had a guy yell at me over a drawer slide install last month
I was working on a custom kitchen in Boise and this homeowner kept hovering while I was fitting soft-close slides on a spice rack. He snapped at me for not using the brand he bought and said I was ruining his cabinets because I trimmed a 1/4 inch off the back of the slide. Has anyone else dealt with a client who thinks they know more about installation than you do?

Oh man, nothing brings out the inner expert like a homeowner with a tape measure they don't know how to use. I bet he thought trimming that slide was like cutting the wrong wire on a bomb or something.

Oh geez, I bet he was out there with a hacksaw and a prayer thinking he was engineering the next great amusement park ride lol. Probably didn't even measure once before hacking away at it, just went full send and hoped for the best. Now the kids have a slide that drops them off a foot shorter than the landing zone, classic DIY magic right there.

The trimming part is actually pretty standard on those slides. Most pros will take an 1/8 or 1/4 off the back to get a perfect fit on spice racks since the cabinet width is never exact. That guy probably saw one YouTube video and thought he knew better than someone doing this every day.

Oh man, @cole_baker nailed it, probably measured once with his eyes closed and then blamed the slide for being "off"! Classic homeowner logic, it's a wonder any of these projects even get finished.
