Heard a client call their kitchen 'the heart of the home' for the hundredth time

It finally clicked that we're not just building boxes, we're building the spot where their family actually lives (you know, where the homework gets done and the big talks happen). I started adding a little extra sanding on the corner everyone leans against while they cook. Anyone else have a small detail they add that most people might not even notice?

My last kitchen had a 36 inch countertop drop zone right by the garage door, a lifesaver for keys and mail. @sage_green is right about switch placement, it's those little wins that make a house feel right. I always run a soft-close hinge check on every cabinet door before I leave a job.

My extra sanding is probably just making up for my terrible cooking skills!

That's a really nice way to look at it. I always make sure the light switch by the back door is in the perfect spot, so you can hit it without putting your groceries down.
