Hit 200 cabinet doors hung and realized my first 50 were basically practice
I was going through my job logs last night, just bored and adding stuff up. 200 doors hung over the last 3 years. For a small shop guy like me that felt like a lot. But then I looked back at photos from my first real kitchen job. The reveals were terrible honestly. Gaps all over the place, hinges not quite right. Nobody complained but I can see it now. First 50 doors I did were basically me learning what square even means on an installed cabinet. Anyone else go back and look at their early work and cringe a little?

Ha! You're probably right about customers not seeing it (and honestly that's been my experience too - most folks just see "door" and "not door"). But here's the thing nobody's bringing up: those early flawed doors might actually be better for business than perfect work. Think about it. If your first kitchen had been flawless, you might've never pushed yourself to get better. That cringe factor is what drives improvement, right? Plus there's the whole psychology thing where customers who don't know what they're looking at are more likely to recommend you based on feel than precision.

Disagree honestly, perfect work builds way more trust and referrals than cringe fuel does.

Bet your customers didn't notice half the stuff you're cringing at now. Could be you're the only one who ever sees those flaws.
