I spent $300 on a special cabinet door clamp that ended up being worse than my old pipe clamps

So I saw this ad for a new cabinet door clamp system that promised perfect alignment every time, no more checking for square. It looked great online, so I ordered the whole kit for about three hundred bucks. The thing is, it's so bulky and slow to set up that I can actually clamp and check three doors with my old pipe clamps in the time it takes to get this thing dialed in for one. The plastic parts feel cheap, and it doesn't even work well on doors wider than 24 inches, which is most of what I build. I feel like I got sold on a gimmick that just complicates a simple process. Has anyone else tried one of these 'magic' alignment systems and had it actually save them time, or are they all just overpriced junk?

Read a forum post a while back where a guy had the same exact problem with a different brand. He said the fancy jig kept slipping on wider panels unless he added extra clamps anyway, which totally defeated the purpose. Seems like a lot of these one-trick tools are made for perfect workshop conditions that don't exist in the real world. My old boss always said if a clamp needs instructions longer than a cereal box, you probably don't need it.

But @viola_allen, it's just a clamp.

My uncle's shop has that Cabinet-Mate Pro system and it's a total game changer for their batch work. I mean, they're doing ten to fifteen identical doors at a time, so the setup time gets averaged out. For a one-off repair or a custom size, yeah, it's overkill and my F-clamps are way faster. Maybe it's just me but the tool isn't junk, it's just for a very specific kind of job most people don't do every day.
