My $200 soft-close hinge gamble that paid off big
I decided to try those Blum soft-close hinges on a kitchen job last spring, even though I usually just use the basic ones that are half the price. My regular supplier had a deal on a box of 50, so I figured why not. Man, the difference was night and day. The client actually noticed the difference before I even pointed it out, which never happens with hardware. She said "these feel so much nicer than my old cabinets" and I knew they were worth the extra upfront cost. I've been slowly swapping to them on all my builds now, but I'm still not sure if it makes sense for rentals or lower budget jobs. Has anyone else found a good balance between splurging on hardware for high end builds versus cutting costs for rentals?
