Picked birch ply over MDF for a closet build in Spokane last month and I'm still second guessing it

Went with the birch for the screw holding and the lighter weight since it was a ceiling height unit, but man, the MDF guy at the lumber yard said I was wasting $60 on a job nobody would see the inside of, so has anyone actually regretted going with the pricier sheet on a build like this?
