PSA: quit labeling your drawer boxes, use a $4 pencil and a scrap board instead
I got tired of peeling tape labels off finished maple drawers and scrubbing adhesive off with mineral spirits on a 14 drawer kitchen job in Boise last month, so I started marking every box with a graphite pencil on the inside back rail where nobody looks. No residue, no ghosting, and one of my guys wiped the marks with a dry rag at install and you cannot tell they were ever there. Does anyone else do this or am I the last guy still using tape and swearing at it?
Tape labels are the reason I keep a bottle of Goo Gone in my truck like it owes me money. Pencil on the inside back rail is the way to go, and a dry rag at the end is all it takes. Some guys act like a label gun saves time until you spend an hour with a scraper and a bad attitude. Graphite has been doing this job since before tape was even a thing, so it is not some new trick. You are not the last guy swearing at tape, but you might be the last smart one.
