PSA: The difference in my shop after switching to a 2hp dust collector

For the first five years, I ran a shop vac on every machine and thought it was fine. My lungs felt heavy by Friday and everything had a fine layer of dust. I bought a 2hp Laguna collector about eight months ago. The air is clear now, my tools stay cleaner, and I can actually see the grain while I'm sanding. Anyone else make a change that had a bigger impact than they expected?

Honestly, I'm surprised it took that long for you to switch. A shop vac just moves dust around, it doesn't actually collect the fine stuff. I made the jump to a real collector after my first year and it was a total game changer. My shop is way cleaner and I don't feel gross after working in there. It's one of those things you don't realize is a problem until you fix it.

Yeah I'm with you on that @skyler_jackson27. I fought it for a while thinking my shop vac was doing the job. Then I cleaned up after a big sanding day and realized I was still getting that fine crap on everything and in my lungs. @avery_jackson switching made a huge difference for me too, the air actually feels different in there now. Its one of those things you just don't notice until you see the before and after.

What finally pushed you to make the switch?

Wait, you switched because of a single bad review?
