Saw this kid trying to glue up edge banding with wood glue yesterday

I was at a supplier in Portland picking up plywood and this younger guy was fighting with a roll of iron-on edge banding. He had a bottle of Titebond spread all over the edge and the banding was slipping everywhere. Told him he needs contact cement or the heat activated kind. I know because I tried the same shortcut back in 1995 and ended up scraping off a whole kitchen's worth of banding with a putty knife. Has anyone else seen folks skip the right adhesive and make a mess?

I mean, yeah it's not the right glue but it's edge banding on plywood, not open heart surgery. He'll figure it out after he's peeled it off a few times.

Laughed out loud at that, I've definitely been that kid before.

Yeah I just use wood glue and a hair dryer to soften it up.
