Spent three days fixing a drawer front that was off by 1/16 of an inch because the client noticed it from across the room.

Honestly, that's just good work, not a waste of time.

Breaking tasks into smaller steps helps me stay focused. I set a timer for each part to keep things moving. It turns a big job into something manageable.

set a timer for each part" - that's actually a solid ADHD hack too. Breaking stuff down keeps the brain from screaming about the big scary task.

The real problem is clients who don't understand tolerances. They see a TV show where everything is perfect and think that's real life. That tiny gap you fixed will probably change again with the seasons anyway. You're just training them to look for flaws.
